Aquariums & Scapes
My name is Etienne, though my friends all call me Edgar. I’ve been keeping fish for about twenty years now. Over those two decades, I’ve built countless setups and held one priority above everything else: providing my fish with a natural and species-friendly environment.
The 100 Species Ecosystem Aquarium
This particular tank is running since 2024, but i have kept and bred the colony of endlers lifebearer's (Poecilia wingei) that calls this tank home for well over 10 years in another tank before that. I've so far kept a total of 39 animal and plant species in this 240L planted ecosystem tank, such as black kuhli loaches (pangio kuhlii), yellow phantom tetras (hyphessobrycon roseus) and many more.
The South America Aquarium
This 200L planted scape has been up and running since mid 2025 - so for about 1 year now. My favorite fish in this tank is the southern platyfish (xiphophorus maculatus), but I also keep glowlight tetras (hemigrammus erythrozonus), dwarf cichlids (apistogramma agassizii) and 18 more species of animals and plants in there.
The Cherry Shrimp Tank
What started in 2023 as a mix of 5 different breeds of cherry shrimp (Neocaridina Davidii); cherry shrimp, orange sakura, red rili, black shrimp and blue dream shrimp, ended as a really interesting experiment: Over the months and years, these shrimp cross-bred (because they all belong to the same shrimp species, they can interbreed) and morphed into a more or less wild looking shrimp.
The Neckar Water Insect Bowl
In late 2025, i decided to set up a resurrection bowl – a miniature self-sustaining ecosystem built entirely from materials collected at a local pond/swamp in Heilbronn, Germany. This project combines elements of aquascaping, jar ecosystems, paludariums, and biotope aquariums into one fascinating glass bowl world.
